WEDDING

It’s safe to say our first wedding of 2019 started off exactly how we wanted it to! Full of fun, surrounded by great people and with the most stunning natural lighting. Despite it being a winter wedding, the sun came out for our lovers giving us photos to absolutely swoon over.

Alley & Iko’s joyful, multicultural wedding in Hertfordshire majorly warmed our hearts and consisted of so many lovely moments. Alley is South African and Iko is Nigerian, meaning we saw wonderful traditional clothing from the respective countries, as well as special touches like a gorgeous protea – South Africa’s national flower – featured so elegantly in Alley’s bouquet. Also, I probably flailed over her bouquet about 50 times because it was just so stunning. I really am an absolute sucker for wild flowers and foliage.

As music and faith play a big part in the couple’s lives, they decided to sing some powerful hymns during the ceremony – you could almost feel Heaven come down at Spicer Street Church. Both Will and I couldn’t help but sing along with the rest of the congregation; it was just too beautiful.

Alley & Iko had their evening reception at Shendish Manor, Hertfordshire. It’s an elegant Victorian hotel surrounded by 160 acres of parkland and garden aka: couple shoot dream. Alley & her 8 (!) lovely bridesmaids also got ready at Shendish Manor. Ps: how gorgeous is Alley’s dress? Not to mention her wedding veil! I couldn’t deal with how amazing it looked on her and it’s safe to say that I was also flailing about it throughout the day.

When it came to the couple shoot, we were able to squeeze in two sessions, which is absolutely perfect for us. Generally this means we can give you a wide range of elegant, natural couple portraits without having to rush you. Plus, if we’re totally honest, it’s a great chance to spend some private time together as husband and wife after what’s been a whirlwind couple of hours.

In honour of Nigerian culture, Alley & Iko changed into traditional Nigerian clothing which was such a special way of marrying two cultures together. The lovebirds spent the rest of the night partying and enjoying some live music and DJ set with their loved ones.

We can’t get over just how wonderful Alley & Iko’s wedding was. It was an absolute joy to capture their wedding day. Thank you to Spicer Street Church and Shendish Manor for being so welcoming and friendly.
